Best Breakfast: Bagels and Beans
Overtoom 306, 1054 JC Amsterdam

You wake up in the morning, starving and thirsty, and you don’t know what to eat and where to go??? Well, I have a pretty good choice for you.
Bagels and Beans! This place offers you a huge range from Bagels to Muffins, often organic, always fresh and prepared with care.
Is there any better way to start into your day??? (I had the bagel with fresh cream cheese, walnuts and honey. It was beyond delicious)

Best fries: Vlaams Friteshuis Vleminckx ,
Voetboogstraat 33, 1012 XK Amsterdam, Niederlande

Your stomach starts to make some noises and you feel like you could have something to eat?  Well, I have something for you. A small shop, located in Amsterdam since 1957, selling the best home-made fries, I have ever eaten. Vlemnickx sells Belgium home-made fries and is well-known for his 25 types of sauces you can choose off. Even for locals, this place is a Must-Go, so be there and have some fries. You definitely won’t regret it.

Best Book Store: Mendo
Berenstraat 11, 1016 GG Amsterdam

Just a couple of house numbers after the Episode store lies one of my favorite book stores in the world: Mendo. From the countless number of books being published every year, the Mendo team make a great selection, specialized on specific categories such as fashion, photography, interior, traveling, food and graphic design. Stunning publications by some of the best publishers in the world, combined with a bookstore, made from books (the stores walls are not made of bricks, but of thousands of black MENDO books), makes MENDO without a doubt one of the most unique and inspiring stores in Amsterdam and in the whole Netherlands.

Best shopping district: The Nine Streets (De Negen Straatjes)

Shopping is a Must-Do while you are in Amsterdam. All the big fast retailers are located on the cities main shopping street named Kalverstraat. If you are looking for the French or Italian luxury boutiques, you will have to head over to P.C.Hoofstraat. Here you will find highly known fashion brands from Armani to Valentino. However, my favorite spot for shopping is the area called De Negen Straatjes. This shopping hotspot is located in the heart of Amsterdams historic canal district, between Leidsestraat and the Jordaan district. The Nine Streets are dotted with nice cafés, restaurants, art galleries, boutiques and vintage stores. Simply said, this area is truly a shopper’s paradise.

Best Fashion Store: Scotch & Soda
Huidenstraat 3-5 1016 ER Amsterdam

France is known for their Haute Couture, Italy for the Alta Moda and the Netherlands? Well, the Netherlands have the Amsterdam Couture represented by the dutch label Scotch & Soda. Relaunched in 2002, Scotch & Soda has become a highly renowned fashion brand all over the world. Classic in many ways, but young and progressive, Scotch & Soda fashion stands for high quality garments, rich details but yet for an affordable price. It is their aim to create great garments that suit everyone, therefore their collection range from classic jackets and chino trousers over to sportive beachwear and trendy t shirts. Being one of my favorite fashion brands I can just recommend you to check out their amazing clothes. Go there and stop by to get yourself a piece of Amsterdam Couture.

Best Vintage Store: Episode Amsterdam
Adresse: Berenstraat 1, 1016 GG Amsterdam

While you are shopping around in The Nine Streets district, don’t forget to pass by the vintage store named Episode. With an exceptional array of styles, trends and prices, you will find everything a shopper’s heart desire.

TIP:

Best way to get around: Take a Bike.

In a city with more bicycles than people, it is pretty clear that there must be something behind that number. you need a bike to cycle around. Let me tell you: cycling in Amsterdam is practical, enjoyable and healthy. It is a way of life, and there’s no finer way to explore the city’s streets, canals and attractions than by pedal power. So join the locals, and hop on your bike.
